The financing of Vietnam Duyen Hai II Project was closed on 28 December, 2016. The COD of Unit #1 and Unit #2 was June 1, 2021 and  December 23, 2021 respectively, and the project had passed transition period from investment and construction stage to commercial operation in 2021. The project is expected to annually feed in about 6.9 billion kWh of electricity to Vietnam's national power grid and create fairly stable and considerable economic benefit.
The investment and construction of the Project has brought a huge amount of investment to Tra Vinh Province, Vietnam and promoted local economic development. With a great number of employment opportunity created in the power plant and surrounding areas, the project has also advanced the socio-economic development of Tra Vinh Province, as well as numerous sources of tax revenue and  fiscal revenue of the local government.
